Over the past two decades, elbow injuries in adolescent throwing athletes—especially baseball pitchers—have been on the rise. With year-round participation in competitive sports and increasing pitch counts at younger ages, we’re seeing a significant uptick in overuse injuries of the elbow.

 

The most common conditions include:

 

Little Leaguer’s Elbow (medial apophysitis)

Ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries

Osteochondritis dissecans of the capitellum

Flexor-pronator strains
