⚾ Elbow Injuries in Adolescent Throwing Athletes: A Growing Concern
Over the past two decades, elbow injuries in adolescent throwing athletes—especially baseball pitchers—have been on the rise. With year-round participation in competitive sports and increasing pitch counts at younger ages, we’re seeing a significant uptick in overuse injuries of the elbow.
The most common conditions include:
•Little Leaguer’s Elbow (medial apophysitis)
•Ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries
•Osteochondritis dissecans of the capitellum
•Flexor-pronator strains
